Mike Leahy, MD, FAAOS
Dr. Mike Leahy is a board certified orthopedic surgeon with fellowship training in spine surgery.
Dr. Leahy is a native Houstonian. After graduating from Memorial High School, Dr. Leahy attended Southern Methodist University. He then attended medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. He completed his Orthopaedic Surgery residency at Scott & White Hospital Texas A&M Health Science Center. He ultimately completed his medical training at the Texas Back Institute in Plano, Texas obtaining subspecialty training in spinal surgery.
Dr. Leahy believes in taking a conservative approach to treating the spine, considering surgery only after exhaustive non-surgical efforts.
When surgical treatment is necessary, Dr. Leahy is a strong proponent of minimally invasive techniques, including non-fusion procedures such as artificial disc replacement and adult stem cell therapy. He is proficient in all of the most current surgical techniques in the treatment of spinal disorders. He incorporates these treatment alternatives into his practice whenever possible.
When Dr. Leahy is not treating spinal disorders he enjoys spending time with his wife and two children.
“Every patient is different and will require an individualized treatment plan,” Dr. Leahy says. “I want my patients to know that I will take a very thorough approach to treat their spinal issues.”
